[June-19th-2024] How to fill your sketchbook

"How to fill up your sketchbook" is a phrase that I see on way too many YouTube videos.

I just don't understand why you need to fill up your sketchbook. Of course, you should fill it up, you shouldn't waste any paper. But you shouldn't pressure yourself to do so. Your sketchbook is something like a diary and not a job. You "write" in it if you want to and if not then you won't. But trying to fill your sketchbook with things that you just drew to fill it up isn't going to magically make you a better artist.

"Filling" a sketchbook can take years and it's not some kind of goal that will benefit you in any way, you can say "I have filled 10, 20, or even 50 sketchbooks" but that isn't representative of your skills in any way.
